Central Pennsylvania churches and charities plan meals for Thanksgiving

Some organizations in central Pennsylvania are stepping in to help those in need with Thanksgiving meals.

As Thanksgiving approaches, some charities and churches announce plans to provide meals for those in need during the holidays.

Bethesda Mission will be distributing takeout meals for Thanksgiving Day at its men’s shelter at 611 Reily Street from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Meals are free and open to the public.


Due to ongoing COVID concerns, Water Street Mission is not hosting a community Thanksgiving dinner this year. Instead, Water Street is working through local churches and will distribute food boxes.


New Life Church, 101 N. Beech St., is offering a free Thanksgiving meal Nov. 25. Meals are on site or take away. Call 717-242-1481 to pre-order meals. For more information, go here.


Lifepath Christian Ministries, 367 West Market St., will provide a meal for those in need from noon to 1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

Masks and social distancing are mandatory, meals will be served in waves to allow for social distancing.

Meals will also be provided to first responders working on Thanksgiving Day.
